Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2010
The law includes provisions that help provide support for the Caregivers of seriously injured Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, helps improve services for our nation’s 1.8 million Women Veterans, and helps expand the availability of health care for Veterans and services preventing Veterans from becoming homeless. The American Psychological Association has also provided a summary that focuses on the mental health provisions in the Act.
Traumatic Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (TSGLI)
Many WW’s do not know about applying for TSGLI payments. This should be done through the SFAC. If there are any questions concerning eligibility for TSGLI or any related TSGLI questions, call the TSGLI Office at 1-800-237-1336 (Army); 1-800-368-3202 (Navy); 877-216-0825 (Marine Corps) or email them at tsgli@conus.army.mil .

Social Security Disability Benefits for Wounded Warriors
Military service members and Veterans can receive expedited processing of disability claims from the Social Security Administration. Benefits available through Social Security are different than those from the Department of Veterans Affairs and require a separate application.
Social Security Disability Claims and Payments
WW’s should apply for Social Security Disability for all OEF/OIF Wounds including TBI and PTSD. A representative from the Social Disability Office will be in the SFAC at Walter Reed every Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to assist WW’s in filling out the application.
